Cystitis is lame. 3 Litres of water a day? Argh! Having to pee after a glassfull sucks. Having to go constantly every 15 bloody minutes is practically intolerable - especially when it takes a good five minutes to get comfortable again.
Bastard urinary tract infection. That is all.

Date: 2007-11-09 04:28 pm (UTC)"... There can be several reasons for the bacteria settling in the bladder. Inadequate emptying resulting in stagnation of urine may lead to infection. This may be caused by some drugs (for example, antidepressants), immobility, abnormal bladder control and constipation."
"Particularly common among females, as they have a shorter urethra than males and it is situated relatively close to their anus... Women... must dry themselves from front to back, towards the anus - not the other way around - to avoid leading bacteria from their intestine into their urethra."
"Cystitis in women [is] related to increased frequency of sexual activity."

Date: 2007-11-10 12:48 am (UTC)Having said that, I suppose it would fit in nicely with the normal "materialise-die-walk-to-god" routine, and hence wouldn't be quite so catastrophic as first imagined. Still. Nasty.
Seeing significant improvement already. Cranberry juice and Cefalexin seem to be doing the trick!

Date: 2007-11-10 03:39 pm (UTC)Try Ibuprofen for the pain when you pee. It should help by reducing the inflammation. Try taking a hot water bottle to bed with you, I tend to find the heat lets you get comfortable more quickly, and actually lets you sleep for a while before you have to get up to go to the loo again.
Get lots of hugs and put a really good book in the bathroom so that you can stay cheerful until you are better again. Much sympathy!
