On the fifth day, all the pieces were gathered. But the darkness had descended further into the belly of the machine than I had dared consider. The spiritual nature of the beast's energy differentiator - the very seat of its power, the engine that drove all other engines - was insufficient, was a paltry four hundreds in magnitude. I would have to transplant a new energy differentiator in the field with no backup, and no hope of rescue. The multicoloured entrails spilling from the heart of the beast caused a shiver to run down my spine. It would be a difficult task. But I had to succeed. There was no other way. I gritted my teeth and resolved myself.
An hour passed. It was difficult work. I realised I would have to tear out the beast's innards almost in their entirety before I could begin. I set about the internal restructuring with a grim determination.
And so, it came to pass, that the replacement altar of visual empowerment was installed. Gold and black ceremonial artifacts whose precise angular nature is spiritually divine, embedded within a green receptor to channel and order their magnificence. The engine of regulation screamed into life, roaring with limitless power as it began to perform its dark purpose.
It was complete. The final piece.
I completed the litany of awakening, and sat back in satisfaction. It was done. As the beast arose from its slumber, I smiled. Today had been a good day. Today had been a triumphant day. Together, we marched towards the distant horizon, better, faster, stronger than before.
